Paying Bills and Making Money
Everyone in the world has their own problems and issues in day to day life. I'm no different, but I understand that there are many more less fortunate than me. Yet I'd be in their position if it wasn't for my parents. Instead of booting me out as soon as I was done with high school, they let me live at home while I worked. I received no scholarship from any college so I had to pay my own way through, but that was impossible with how little money I had at the time. So I saved up the best I could and took my first class in the fall of 2008; but it wasn't until two years after that that I took my second class. Again, it all came down to money. The school I was going to charged about $800 per class! I can't imagine how much a full-time student would have to pay without a scholarship for one semester. It's insane! Luckily, there was another local school that was much cheaper. So this semester I signed up for two classes, around $350 each. Not horribly bad but still quite expensive. But my dad reimbursing me what I paid in full if I pass all my classes at the end of each semester? I'd say that's definitely worth it! Unfortunately with other bills on the table, it's not much of a consolation. I'll admit I don't have as many bills as other people, but I still have stuff I have to pay off. My car, for instance. I've got another 2 to 3 years to pay off on it. Then there's the monthly rent of (now) $350 to my parents. Insane, right? But that covers what they're paying for my car insurance and cell phone bill mainly. Though I have to say that I'd prefer to get on my own cell plan instead of being on one that's been under my dad's name for the past five years or so. Of course, that's where my next bill comes in. In this day and age, people need credit to buy a house, car, cell phone, or whatever else. There are ups and downs to having a credit card but I figured it was better to take the risk with just one, so for the past 8 months or so I've been building my credit with that one credit card. It's been a life saver in some cases but other times I used it cause I didn't want to pay cash or use my debit card. Lately, I've run down my available funds to a minimal amount and will barely have enough to get by this month and probably the next. So all of this has come down to finding a way to make more money. I won't be getting a raise at work any time soon or really at all with how the current economy is. So I've looked into both getting a new job and finding a second one, but not much luck. This turned me to my newest hobby: crochet. I know people sell hand-made stuff online and locally and now I'm wondering if this would be a good way for me to make some money. I can't say for sure unless I try it, but just buying the materials needed will cost me quite a bit. Yet with this fall season getting colder, people will need to start buying scarves and hats to keep warm, so why not make those? They'll be easy enough to make and will be great for practice. Blankets, gloves, and wrist warmers would be good too. I just have to get started on it all.
